RSD Black Friday 2026 Releases, Ranked by How Convincingly You Can Call Them a Gift

Let us be honest with each other. RSD Black Friday falls the day after Thanksgiving, which makes it the official kickoff of holiday gift shopping. And every year, thousands of record collectors walk in saying "I'm just getting something for my brother" and walk out with four records, none of which are for their brother.

So we ranked some of the best titles on the Record Store Day Black Friday 2026 list by one very scientific metric: how convincingly you can claim it is a gift. Full list and request form on our RSD Black Friday page.

Customers with their Record Store Day finds

Tier 1: Extremely believable gifts

Vince Guaraldi Trio, A Charlie Brown Christmas (Advent Calendar Edition)

Nobody has ever been suspected of buying an advent calendar for themselves. Hand this to literally any relative and you look thoughtful. Then quietly ask if you can borrow it on December 1.

Eagles, Please Come Home For Christmas / Funky New Year

Dad gift. Indisputable. Possibly the most dad gift ever pressed onto a 12-inch.

Various Artists, Wicked: The Complete Soundtrack (4 x LP)

There is someone in your life who has seen Wicked more than once in a theater. This is for them. Four LPs means it looks generous, too.

Various Artists, KPop Demon Hunters (Soundtrack from the Netflix Film)

If there is a kid in your family, they have been singing this for months. Buy it, be the cool aunt or uncle, and accept that you will hear it at every family gathering until 2028.

Tier 2: Believable if you commit to the bit

Noah Kahan, Draw You Out (7") and The Last of the Bugs (12" EP)

"It's for my cousin who just moved to Vermont." Sure. Two Noah Kahan releases on one list is a lot of folk-pop feelings for one Black Friday, and judging by our customer requests so far, a lot of you are planning to feel all of them.

Carly Rae Jepsen, Day and Night (Continued) (2 x LP)

Easy to pass off as a gift because everyone loves Carly Rae Jepsen. Hard to actually give away for the exact same reason.

KATSEYE, KATSEYE: The Dance Breaks (12")

A perfect gift for the teenager in your life. Also a perfect gift for you, the adult who has definitely learned at least one of these dance breaks in the kitchen.

Stevie Nicks, Bella Donna

"For my mom." Absolutely. And also for you. And also for anyone who has ever twirled in a shawl.

Tier 3: Nobody is buying that this is a gift

Prince, 3121 Las Vegas Live (3 x LP)

Three LPs of Prince live in Vegas. Currently the most-requested title from our customers. If you walk out of the store with this and say it is for someone else, the cashier is legally allowed to laugh.

Masayoshi Takanaka, Takanaka / Super Takanaka Live! / Super Selection

Three Takanaka records on one list. City-pop heads, this is your Super Bowl. You will not be giving these away. You will be playing them on Sunday mornings with the windows open, pretending you live in 1977 Tokyo.

Grateful Dead, Carousel Ballroom, San Francisco, CA, 2/14/68 (4 x LP)

Four LPs of a Valentine's Day 1968 show. This is not a gift. This is a lifestyle.

Ween, Shinola, Vol. 2 (2 x LP)

If you try to give Ween to someone who does not already love Ween, it will not go well. If you give it to someone who does, they will never forget you. Either way, you are keeping it.

Tier 4: You are buying this for yourself and you are proud of it

Iron Maiden, The Number of the Beast: Eddie (RSD toy)

A record store exclusive Eddie. It goes on your shelf. It watches over your collection. It is not leaving your house.

Motley Crue, Decade of Decadence '81 to '91 (2 x LP)

Some purchases do not need a justification. This is one of them.

2Pac, Pac's Life (20th Anniversary Special Edition)

Twenty years on, and still a must for any hip-hop shelf. Gift-wrapping optional.
