TONTRÄGER
Seit 1998 die erste Adresse in Augsburg für aktuelle Releases auf Vinyl und CD. Der Schwerpunkt bei Tonträger liegt dabei auf elektronischer Tanzmusik von Techno über House, Minimal und Electro bis zu Dubstep & Drum and Bass, aber auch auf auf Hiphop, Funk, Disco, Reggae, Dancehall und Indie – alles in großer auswahl, sowohl Neuerscheinungen als auch Klassiker, und zu fairen Preisen. Ein Eldorado vor allem für DJs und Vinylfans ist Tonträger aber nicht nur wegen des großen Angebots, sondern auch wegen des guten Service: hinter der Theke stehen Mitarbeiter, die schon seit vielen Jahren als DJs in vielen Clubs der Stadt aktiv sind und sich in ihrem Spezialgebiet auskennen wie in ihrer Westentasche. Da sind auch besondere Wünsche kein Problem: schon oft trieb Tonträger Platten auf, die schon seit langem vergriffen geglaubt waren. Sogar durch vorsummen sind schon Titel erkannt worden! Zusätzlich gibt es bei Tonträger auch auch alles, was man an Zubehör braucht. Nadeln kaputt? Neuer Plattenspieler? Kein Problem: alles ist entweder schon vorrätig oder binnen weniger Tage aufgetrieben. Ausserdem gibt es nur hier die kultigen Augsburg Allstars T-Shirts und passenden Taschen. Doch Tonträger ist nicht nur seit Jahren für guten Sound auf Vinyl und CD ein Begriff. Im Laden entstand schon manche Partyidee, die heute aus dem Augsburger Clubleben nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Legendäre Partyreihen wie „Trust In Stereo“, "Augsburg Allstars Night" in der Kantine, "Four By Four" in der Kantine oder, in früherer Zeit, „Tricky Disco“ und "Masstransit DnB" im Kerosin nahmen hier ihren Anfang. Über die hauseigenen Booking- und Eventagenturen, Love Supreme Productions und Aux Music, können ausgewählte DJs, MCs und Liveacts aus Augsburg und ganz Deutschland gebucht werden. Wer Veranstaltungen plant, findet hier DJs, die ihr Handwerk verstehen, und mit den beiden Agenturen zuverlässige Partner für Events aller Art.

In einem Satz kaum zu beschreiben, was Mike, der Inhaber des kleinen aber feinen Lädchens im Herzen der Stadt Coburg so zu seinem Lebensinhalt gemacht hat. Kein 0815-Plattenladen mit nicht mehr als dem üblichen Alternative-Punkrock Standardkram. Denn neben T-Shirts und Klamottur für den Punkrocker jeder Altersklasse findet sich hier neben den Silberscheiben auch die gute alte Vinylplatte im Angebot. Aber auch im Veranstaltungsbereich wird hier einiges dargeboten. So veranstaltet die „verseuchte Scheibe Brot“ auch Festivals wie das inzwischen zum festen Bestandteil der fränkischen/thüringischen Musikszene mutierte Outsideo Rodeo. Auch Bands wie La Vela Puerca, Angelika Express oder Karamelo Santo konnten von Toxic-Mike zu einem schnuckligen Clubkonzert in die Vestestadt gelockt werden.
Bongartz Musik in allen Formaten
💿 RSD ParticipantI started the 2nd day on my tour from Hamburg to Munich in Erlangen, where you can find three stores. I first went to Bongartz, and behind the counter I met Peter, who has worked in record stores since the end of the 80s. In November 2008 he started his own store. He said “Here at Bongartz we offer CDs and lots of vinyl. We have all genres, you can find Jazz and World, Pop and Indie, electronic sound scapes and all kinds of Black Rhythm. We also have some Classical.” Unfortunately the other two stores in Erlangen were still closed, so I only made some photos showing the street front. You can find those on the website.

Second Music & Fun - Records Munich
Third stop in Munich was Second Music & Fun. Owner Carmen wasn’t there, but the woman behind the store called her, and Carmen told me: “I opened this store in 2000, after I quit my office job at Ariola. In the early years the store focused on CDs and DVDs, vinyl was also there, but not much. This has changed completely, now we mainly deal with 2nd hand vinyl of all genres and the size of the store has changed from 40m² to 100m². In autumn we will also offer Classical. And we still have CDs and DVDs.”
Dock’s LP/CD/DVD-Börse
Although this store has been here since 1988 I’ve never seen it before. And I didn’t really expect to find a store with so many CDs. The basement is huge! In the store I met Michael, who runs this store together with Matthias and Rupert. They have over 40,000 titles on LP, CD, DVD and Blu-ray, all styles, no main focus.

Maoz Barda came to Munich 6 years ago and opened this store two years later in January 2015. He told me: “This is a ecord shop combined with a café, I also sell turn-tables and Hi-Fi systems. My focus is different ambiance and experience of buying records. Spend your time while listening and drinking something. And from time to time we hold concerts in the shop.”

So finally I arrived in Munich and since I came from Nuremberg I started my trip in the North with Die Tonabnehmer. The team of DIE TONABNEHMER consists of Matthias, Luigi (the owners) and Uwe (manager). In addition there are three salespeople who work on different days. The store exists since 2006 and has always been at this location. They primarily sell vinyl, but also carry a large selection of CDs: (Hard-) Rock-Pop, Jazz, Soul, German recordings and World Music, Country, Rock 'n Roll, Easy Listening, Soundtrack can be found, as well as Hip-Hop, Reggae and International performers. The main focus is Rock-Pop, Jazz and Soul on Vinyl.

Best Records Vinyl An- & Verkauf
This one has been a regular fix point on all my trips to Munich since 2000. It has always been here, and I always found good records. Christoph Best started Best Records in January 1990 (January, 9th, to be precise), so in a few months he will celebrate 30th year anniversary. He told me: “The store has always been at this location and I always had vinyl, nothing but vinyl. I offer all genres except Classical, Schlager, James Last, etc. As you might guess when you browse my stock, my personal focus has always been Soul. Oh, and I do not sell online and I do not accept credit cards.”
Laden 14,80
This store was not on the map, I found it when I was looking for another one. It’s called 14,80 and it exists for nearly 14 years now. The owner is Marcus Mathibe, and he sells vinyl and shellack, lamps and vintage, antique and design, as you can see on the photos. Unfortunately he said he will close this store permanently soon.
MusicAndBooks
MusicAndBooks is just across the road from Vinylos, and inside the store I met Norbert Walden, who founded this store 42 years ago in October 1977. The anniversary will be celebrated this year on Sep, 28th and 30th. He moved into this location in 1999 and you can find loads of CDs and vinyl from all styles. And well, after a short chat Norbert became a supporter, too! This never happened before, three stores, all in the same area, all become supporter within an hour. Much love to Nuremberg - I’ll definitely come back soon!!
mono-Ton
A few weeks before I started this tour from Hamburg to Munich, Sebastian aka @sebb_o contacted me and said I really have to come to Nuremberg, they have a good record store scene over there. And since Nuremberg is not too far from Munich, and I had plans to visit Munich asap, I promised to really come to Nuremberg soon. Sebastian is one of the people behind mono-Ton. And it’s a good one: mono-Ton opened doors in 2001 and they moved to this location in 2015. Sebastian told me: “Today we're offering records and cds. In the first floor you can find rock, pop, indie, jazz, funk, soul, electronic music, krautrock, blues and world music - new and second hand. Downstairs we've set up our hifi shop. In two studios you can find turntables, speakers, ampflifiers, cd players, streamer and everything else you need. New and second hand as well. Something special? Yes! We have a italian coffee machine and cold drinks! Regularly instore gigs and our own record label: mono-Ton-records.” Oh, and mono-Ton is supporting recordstores.love!

Next stop in Nuremberg was Kill-O-Zap. Here I met Sebastian, who told me: “Our store opening was on January 7th 2011. In January 2019 we moved to our new address. We buy and sell records, CDs, DVDs and a few tapes from almost ALL kinds of music. Musically our main focus is on Pop/Rock, Metal, Punk and Indie, but there's also plenty of Jazz. Media wise we're specialized on vinyl in all shapes and sizes. Alongside we buy and sell Hifi gear, merch (band shirts, posters...), books and other stuff we consider cool. Personally I'm loving and collecting mainly Metal and Punk for about 30 years. Maybe that's why we have a bigger selection of these styles than some other stores.“

Rossi is a very friendly record dealer for decades now. He used to have a recordstore in Augsburg during the 90s and is now living outside of munich in an old farmhouse working with vinyls. A range from 50s 60s 70s 80s Music of all kinds. Rock Jazz OST Soul Heavy...etc. He has two recordrooms which are a great recordstore. You always need to contact first. You have to make an appointment. Very cool location!
