Fischkopp-Plattenshop
Fischkopp evolved from a meeting point and was founded in 2001. It’s non profit and more like a project, so in this case nobody wanted to show his or her favorite record. Most of the music here is independently released by bands and labels and you can find some real treasures. More photos on the website.
Freiheit & Roosen
Ralph started Freiheit & Roosen back in 2008, when he already had a good reputation as online seller. In his store you can find more than just music, he also offers old HiFi, lamps, speakers, vintage, drawings etc. He sells 2nd Hand and new releases, all on vinyl, maybe with a focus on Independent music. You should not miss this one.
Plattenrille
Plattenrille (german for the spiral groove in a vinyl record) was founded back in 1982 by Paul, who later was joined by Herbert. The store is hidden in a backyard close to the University of Hamburg and sells mainly second hand vinyl, all styles, the focus might be Classical, Jazz, Soul and Rock. This year a new crew took over and will continue to run the store. Sebastian has been behind the counter for many years now, the photo shows him and his partners Christopher and Robert. One thing has changed: they will add new releases to the catalogue.
Michelle Records
Michelle was founded in 1977, and went bankrupt in 1999. Christof, who started working for Michelle in 1986, took over with two colleagues. André joined in 2004. They are Allrounders and you should check out their Facebook site, because sometimes they organize “Schaufensterkonzerte” (store window concerts).
Pure Soul Records
After many years of selling handpicked soul 45s through our website, we opened „Pure Soul Recordshop“ in 2011. Soul, Funk and Jazz are probably still our specialty, but we always liked cool and unusual records from other genres like Afrobeat, Krautrock and Library. Everything mainly on original pressing. We’re always interested in buying records from single items to whole collections. And yes, we travel!
Remedy Records
In 1989 Jörn started Remedy Records right where we started this Hamburg Tour. But he left Schanzenviertel and now Remedy is located close to the A7 Stellingen. Remedy is an underground metal store, they offer some vinyl but mainly CDs, and you can find Hard Rock and Metal in all variations. Behind the counter you will meet Michael, who joined Remedy in 2009.
About Songs & Books
About Songs and Books is a office / store cooperation by the record label DuckDevil DevilDuck and the independent publisher Mairisch Verlag. They started 2015 and offer a small selection of Indie Rock, Singer/Songwriter and Folk. 100% vinyl by a few labels they like, including Sub Pop Sub Pop Records, Glitterhouse Orange Blossom Special Festival , Secretly Canadian Secretly Canadian , Jagjaguwar, Dead Oceans Dead Oceans and - of course - DevilDuck Records. On the photo you can see bossman Jörg.
Nachladen.
Nachladen is one of a few new stores. It opened in July 2016 and concentrates on 2nd Hand Punk, Post Punk and labels from Hamburg. They also sell Zines (more than 600 titles) and Prints. On the photo you can see Tim, not on the photo is Heio.

0Zardoz Records
Zardoz was founded in 1981, had many different addresses and has moved to this beautiful location in 2018. So it’s one of the oldest stores in Hamburg. They have all styles, new releases and 2nd hand, fair prices and definitely a must for all vinyl lovers. On the photo you can see André, he came to Zardoz in 1987 and never left.
Crypt Records GmbH
The story of Cool and Crazy goes back to 1991, when Tim founded the store in St Pauli. Dirk (photo) joined him three years later. Cool and Crazy was always a combination of store (Cool and Crazy) and label (Crypt Records). In 1997 they had to close the store and concentrated on the label, until they found a new location in 2005. Here they have enough space for a small store and the label. Dirk focuses on the store and you can buy dirty Rock, Garage and Punk. Ring the bell to get in.
Ruff Trade Records
Ruff Trade started as Rip Off in 1979, soon became part of the Rough Trade Distribution and was renamed into Rough Trade in the early 80s. Music journalist Michael Ruff joined them in 1984. In 1989 Rough Trade had financial problems and sold the store to Michael - and since his last name is Ruff, he renamed Rough Trade into Ruff Trade. He offers only 2nd hand music of all styles he likes.Check it out.

At Nostalgie-Shop you can find everything from the 40s to the 60s, not just music. They sell fashion, accessoires, lamps, etc, and records are just a small section in the store. They also have shirts, books, some vintage, and although the little store is packed to the max (they always say “rather too much than too little”), it looks tidy and organized.
