After Hannover I went to Göttingen, where my first stop was Tonkost. Stefan founded this store 10 years ago and moved into this location in August 2018. He said: “Hi, we are TonKost. normally we are selling classical CDs. But my passion is in jazz, so we sell jazz vinyls. Just jazz !!! Our vinyls are in perfect condition. Mostly unplayed, some still factory sealed. Records from the early 60s, 70s and 80s. BN from Japan, France and US. Contemporary, Riverside, Verve, MPS, Atlantic. MONO STEREO etc. Join us.” A regular event in his store is the “After Concert Dinner”, where he invites Musicians to a dinner after they had a concert in Göttingen. Customers can apply to join them for the dinner.

Groovy Headshop & Recordstore
Behind the counter of this store I met Andreas aka @andreas_gunman, who told me: “We are a Recordstore with different styles: Minimal Techno, House, Punk, Ska, Raggae, Hardcore, Punk, Deutschpunk,… also a Headshop with Papers, Blunts, Filtern, Bongs, Pipes, Vaporisators,.... and a Piercingstudio”. They have been here since May 1996.

Vinyl Reservat
2nd stop in Göttingen was Vinyl Reservat which looks a bit like Digger’s Paradise. Behind the counter I met Hans Philipp, who told me: “We offer the full range of music styles and have appr 40.000 records in stock, but it is not about quantity - it’s about quality. We have some new releases in the store, but our focus is on 2nd hand. Styles are rock/pop music starting from R&R, beat, psychedelic, progressive, classic rock, 60ties, 70ties, 80ties and newer ones. A good selection of jazz, swing, dixie and ragtime plus a country blues section, one of the best folk collections, soul/funk/disco, Hip Hop, Punk, Reggae, Krautrock, world music ranging from indian classical to libanese belly dance to greek rembetiko to name a few and some electonic music records too. Of course we have a classical music as well, ~ 8.000 records. I have a special intersst in african music, so we have quite a lot of african original pressing (mostly from nigeria, ghana and benin) and RE here in the shop. Labels like Analog Africa, Hot Casa and awesome tapes from africa. Since 2018 we run a label focused on local artists mainly, we do a lot of concerts in the shop and at other places and in august 2019 we will start a cafe in the shop, so you can have some nice espresso or juice while digging!”
